The Red River Lyric Summer Festival has three tracks of study:

Musical Theatre Program

This is a special program designed for the developing singer-actor. Students in this program will have voice lessons, coaching and audition preparation, and will perform in a specially designed SHOWCASE performance.*

Young Artist Program

For more advanced students and professionals. Singers admitted to this program will sing roles in the final productions.

Studio Program

For all singers looking to broaden their skills and prepare for auditions in a nurturing yet intensive environment. Participants will perform in a program of opera scenes, arias or one-act operas, and some will understudy roles and sing chorus in the staged productions.

Application Deadline

Application deadline is March 15, 2018. You will be notified of acceptance by April 1, 2018.

  • Résumé
  • Headshot
  • Audio and/or video of two contrasting selections

Audio and video can be sent as attachments, as links to YouTube/Vimeo/SoundCloud-hosted media, or as links to file transfer services such as Dropbox and WeTransfer. We reserve the right to request additional electronic samples if the quality is not acceptable.

Live auditions are available by appointment, but all applicants must apply for the program via email.  

Application Fee

The application fee of $30.00 can be paid via PayPal. 
Applications will not be considered until the fee has been received.

Tuition & Fees

Young Artist Tuition: $1,800
Studio Artist Tuition: $ 1,400

Scholarships are available but limited.  Please indicate need for assistance in your application email.

Please pay the aforementioned application fee of $30.00 with submission of your materials.
Deposit of $500 is due upon acceptance of assignments and is non-refundable. (May 1st deadline.)
The full tuition must be paid by June 1, 2018.


Once accepted, to cancel your registration, please contact us at: redriverlyric@gmail.com. If cancellations are not made before May 1, 2018, the full registration fee is incurred. Stop payment of a check does not constitute a formal cancellation. There is a return check fee of $30.00 for all stop payments and returned checks. 


Housing for the program is $650; this includes insurance and linen service. Food is available (but limited) on campus for an additional cost.  

The Midwestern State University dorms provide single bedrooms with shared living space (2 residents). Each living room is equipped with a refrigerator and microwave. There is a kitchen available for use in the lobby of the building.

Internships Available


Aspiring stage directors, designers and stage managers are encouraged to apply.  There is no tuition for this program.  The interns will participate in the workshop, assist the directors and coaches, and have possible directing responsibilities supervised by workshop staff. Lighting designers will assist in the design of all performances.

Collaborative Piano Internship

Pianists will accompany rehearsals and lessons.  This is a great way to build repertoire and develop a performing and teaching résumé!  Some interns may be involved in the scenes performances and staging rehearsals.
